Wet and wild fun run: a first timer's experience

A couple of weeks ago, my mom when home and told us that she signed us up for her school's fun run to support her students who were organizing the event. We were very confused since my mom is not athletic and that she didn't even tell us about it. She could have asked us if we wanted to join. She already paid for all of us so we couldn't say no anymore.

Leading up to the event, I was panicking because my rubber shoes is already screaming for retirement. It's so stressful to look for rubber shoes when the smallest size sports shoes brands offer is size 6. Couln't really find a smaller size so size 6 has to do. Good thing I found a good pair of running shoes at Olympic Village. 1499 for World Balance rubber shoes!

Anyway, the fun run was today. It's called Splash & Dash: A Water Fun Run. It was sponsored by San Beda College Alabang's Rotaract Club. This is an event for the Yolanda victims. The run was held at Filinvest City, Alabang. My mom enlisted us for the 3K run. Good thing because we weren't really prepared for it. There was also a 5K and a 7K course.

I hated having to wake up at 3:30 AM just to prepare for the run. We had a hard time waking up my older sister who eventually didn't go. I was so sleepy that I was cranky the whole time.

Now, why is it called a water fun run? Apparently, they have stations where they throw water balloons at you. Not a lot of water balloon stations. I even managed to go through the whole course avoiding all water balloons thrown at us.

At first, I was jogging along with my brother and my mom. But I realized, I wouldn't finish with a better time if I stayed with them (as if I was vying for a medal). I left them to jog alone. Bad idea to wear a velour jacket! I finished the race above average. I'm very proud of myself. I did finish the race wet, though. At the finish line, a fire truck is waiting for you. You can't avoid staying dry when you're up against a fire truck's water power! Sad to say, I don't have pictures except for the race kit. Weird enough, I brought home a freebie for a reason I don't know, The Las Pinas Rotaract guy just told me that I can claim my prize. My mom brought home a box of Krispy Kreme. My brother brought home nothing =(.

Will I join another fun run again? Most probably. As long as it's not early in the morning!
