Alabang Korean food trip #3: Soban K-Town Grill

Here's another entry for my quest on Korean restaurants found in Alabang. Honestly, there are quite a number of options available now ranging from authentic ones to chain restaurants. Dining at authentic Korean restaurants (owned by Koreans, served by them, and frequented by them) can be daunting especially if it's your first time. I found a restaurant that serves nearly authentic Korean food that you won't be scared to go to.

Soban K-Town Grill is a Korean BBQ chain restaurant. Its newest branch is located at ATC Corporate Center. It offers combo meals that will surely delight those who are craving Korean food, both first timers and frequenters.
Ordering is easy because the menu offers a clear description of each dish. Korean BBQ is the star of the show, and you can choose from the most basic option to more adventurous ones.

We chose the most basic grill set for sharing. The Classic BBQ Combo set contains 180g USDA Choice Fresh Beef Belly, 180g Pork Belly (choice of up to 2 flavors), 180g Boneless Fried Chicken, 1 Japchae, 1 Pajeon, and 1 Half Gimbap. This set good for 3 to 4 people costs Php 2,000 and comes with unlimited rice (choice of steamed white rice or kimchi fried rice), soup and banchan (side dishes). We got so full and still had leftovers.

some of the banchan + ingredients for ssam (bbq wrap)

rolled egg omelette

haemul pajeon or seafood and spring onion pancake (sorry for the blurry photo, I was rushing to take a picture 😁)

fried chicken

woogyupsal or beef belly

sampgyupsal or pork belly (we chose doenjang and soy garlic)

I really liked the food here in Soban. The banchan, meat, and soup were authentic. We kept on requesting the salad-type side dishes. We also fell in love with the soup (the soup that day was beef bone soup). The staff are friendly and accommodating, so it helped us enjoy our dining experience. The fried chicken and japchae were also good. However, the gimbap wasn't. I felt like the rice was dry. The pajeon was just okay. It was more like tempura (the batter used), crunchy, when it was supposed to be doughy. I liked that they didn't skimp on the seafood and spring onions.

Soban also offers snacks, ala carte dishes, and solo meal sets. The space in ATC is quite small so it can get quite stuffy. We didn't have space to put our bags down nor did they have hooks under the tables. Since it is a BBQ joint, expect it to be warm at times. The modern design of the restaurants makes it look like a hip place for young adults.

I would surely go back to Soban because they have much to offer despite what seems like a limited menu. I give it an 8 out of 10.
