A taste of China at Chairman Wang's Prime Beef Noodle House

When my family craves for Chinese food, we usually go to that certain chain restaurant that's all over the Metro. It was time to try something new. A new Chinese restaurant is now available to cater to those who want something more than the usual Chinese restaurant choices.

Chairman Wang's Prime Beef Noodle House is a Chinese restaurant located at Molito Lifestyle Complex, Alabang, Muntinlupa. It stands out because it offers Schezuan-style cuisine. I was a bit worried because I can't eat spicy food. Good thing they have an extensive menu that also catered people like me.

The restaurant has a spacious-looking dining area that is illuminated by warm lantern-style lighting. Wooden furniture and fixtures are accented with Chinese patterns. A solitary red wall completes the look. Overall, it looks like a family restaurant in China that was modernized.

We ordered a lot, but this doesn't even cover half of what Chairman Wang's can offer. One visit isn't enough so I'll come back for more!

Iced lemon tea (Php 150.00 for a carafe)

Pork & Chive Dumplings (steamed, Php 180.00)

Northern Style Lamb Dumplings (fried, Php 220.00)

Nori Pork Siomai

We started with a couple of dimsum choices because we have been craving for dimsum. We ordered an iced tea that was made in-house. I don't really like ready-made iced tea. We only got the most basic one, but his was so good already that we were able to finish it right away. The various dimsum were also very good. For the dumplings, you can either choose fried or steamed, and we got what the waitress recommended for them. The lamb dumplings were not gamey, and the pork & chive dumplings were very juicy.

Minced Lamb Wrapped in Pancake with Leeks (Php 380.00)

This is a dish you won't really find in our usual Chinese restaurants. The spices and seasonigs used in the minced lamb were very strong and flavorful, certainly not for a picky eater. It is countered by pairing it with the julienned cucumber and leeks. No need to use the hoisin sauce as it is already flavorful. The pancakes were thin and sweet. The only disappointing thing is that they only served it with 4 pancakes (not sure if you can ask for more) as those weren't enough for the meat.

Fried Rice Yangzhou Style (Php 250.00)

Crispy Honey Chicken (not sure of the name, though)

Crispy Salt & Pepper Squid (Php 280.00)

For the non-adventurous eaters, they offer many dishes that are familiar to us. The fried rice and squid dishes were really good. We did hope that they served the squid with a vinegar-based sauce to counteract the oiliness (they serve it with sweet and sour sauce). The chicken dish surprised us as it was served with honey. Children will like it, but don't worry, the honey isn't sickly sweet.

Beef Tendon Noodle Soup (Php 240.00)

Dandanmian

When you go to Chairman Wang's, you have to have their noodle dish as it's their specialty. They make their noodles fresh so you get the good stuff when you get them. An important tip is that their serving size is big so they are shareable (they told us they were good for 1 person). The beef tendon noodle soup was very rich. It was also a bit spicy for me. They didn't skimp on the big chunks of meat. We also ordered the dandanmian (which they said was spicy but wasn't). I only took a sip of the broth because I was already too stuffed to eat more.

Overall, Chairman Wang's was a good place to eat Chinese dishes we don't see just anywhere. As I said earlier, they have an extensive menu so they have more to offer both to the adventurous and non-adventurous eaters. I give it a 7.5 out of 10.
